Adentity Update: Inspiration Trip!

Adentity’s latest inspiration trip took us to the Museum of Modern Art, Louisiana in Denmark. There we had the opportunity to see various exhibitions including one titled ’Warhol after Munch’ which displayed works by both the legendary, master of the surface, Andy Warhol and painter of the innermost soul, Edvard Munch.

In 1984 Warhol made a long series of prints that are versions of four main subjects by Munch, the iconic The Scream, Madonna, Self-Portrait and The Brooch. Eva Mudocci. The exhibition consisted of 30 of Warhol’s unique silk-screen prints and 17 of Munch’s original prints.
The highlight at Louisiana was Sophie Calles’ exhibition. Calle is a French contemporary photographer, writer and conceptual artist. Her main piece at Louisiana ’Take Care of Yourself’ was first presented at the French Pavilion in the 2007 Venice Biennale. The title derives from an e-mail her boyfriend sent to her to break up with her. He finished the letter with the words ’Take care of yourself’.

Confused by this e-mail, Calle unleashed the e-mail to 107 women (including a parrot) who by using their different talents and skills would interpret it in their own way. The result was massive and the hall was filled with the interpretations presented in text, video and photography. At first glance Calle seems to be an obsessive narrator of her own private emotional and psychological life. But exploring deeper, she reaches something utterly human and universal. In numerous interviews she states that she only uses fragments of her life as tools in her work, nothing more.

The exhibition moves from Louisiana on the 24th of October and will be shown at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg from the 30th of October, where she will also receive the Hasselblad Award.
