Inspiration: Branding Obama!

Here's an interesting 2 part interview with Sol Sender the man behind the Obama '08 logo. Sol talks about the logo explorations and identity contenders to the iconic "O". He explains that the identity was made to look different intentionally in order to stand out from other candidate identities. The logo has been adopted in many different shapes and forms, something that only strengthens the identity rather than weakening it. It's important to note that Sol Sender and a small team of designers created the logo and initial identity standards, but it was art director John Slabyk and creative director of new media Scott Thomas who extended the identity into novel and exciting executions.
